COLLEGE FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE NATION : Kansas State Quarterback Goes Home
Matt Miller, Kansas State’s senior quarterback who was knocked out of the Holiday Bowl, was released from a San Diego hospital Saturday afternoon in time to return home with his victorious teammates.
Miller sprained his neck in a frightening helmet-to-helmet collision with Colorado State linebacker Nate Kvamme early in the second quarter of No. 10 Kansas State’s 54-21 rout Friday night.
He spent the night at Sharp Memorial Hospital and on Saturday morning underwent an MRI exam, which turned up no other injuries. Wearing a neck brace for comfort, he was released about 2 1/2 hours before the Wildcats’ charter flight left for Manhattan, Kan.
