Jan. 10 Hearing Set for Youths in ‘Wrong-Way’ Slaying of Girl
A Juvenile Court judge has set a Jan. 10 hearing date to determine if three juveniles can be tried as adults in connection with the gang slaying of 3-year-old Stephanie Kuhen in a Cypress Park alley.
The three have been held on murder charges since being arrested shortly after the Sept. 17 shooting, in which gang members opened fire on a car that had mistakenly turned down an alley at the end of Isabel Street. The shooting drew national attention as an example of random urban violence.
Three adults also have been charged with the shooting, which wounded Kuhen’s 2-year-old brother, Joseph, and Timothy Stone, the driver of the car.
