NHL ROUNDUP : Penguins Penalize the Stars

The Pittsburgh Penguins are scary enough without giving them a man advantage.
Friday night, the Dallas Stars gave them too many.
Jaromir Jagr and Tomas Sandstrom scored power-play goals in the second period to give the Penguins the momentum and they went on to win for the ninth time in 10 games, 5-1, over the Stars at Dallas.
“You take bad penalties, we’ll burn you,” Penguin Coach Ed Johnston said. “That’s what happened in the second period. If you want to take foolish penalties, that’s right up our alley.”
Mario Lemieux and Jagr, No. 1 and 2 in NHL scoring, had a goal an an assist each and Sandstrom scored two goals and added an assist for the Penguins.
Winnipeg 9, Edmonton 4--Deron Quint scored two goals in four seconds and Teemu Selanne had four goals to lead the Jets at Winnipeg.
Hartford 4, Colorado 2--Brendan Shanahan had two goals and an assist to lead the Whalers at Hartford, Conn.
Detroit 3, New Jersey 1--Bob Errey scored two goals and the Red Wings held the Devils to 19 shots at Detroit to break a six-game losing streak.
Buffalo 5, N.Y. Rangers 4--The Rangers’ 10-game unbeaten streak ended as Alexei Zhitnik had a goal and two assists in the Sabres’ victory at Buffalo, N.Y.
Montreal 4, Chicago 1--Pat Jablonski did a near-flawless Patrick Roy impersonation, making 33 saves and carrying the Canadiens to victory at Chicago.
