Bishop Amat and Ayala have signed a multiyear contract to play each other in football, beginning next season. . . . Rosemead’s Chien Yu finished with 20 points and his last-second layup handed Nogales its first loss of the season, 62-61, in boys’ basketball last Friday. Nogales Coach Bob Withers did not play Larry Singletary, William Porter and Byron Glass because of disciplinary reasons and Donovan McCrary because of an injury. . . . Jeff Jacaway scored 30 points, nine of them on three-point baskets, and was named tournament MVP in leading Bishop Amat to a 62-51 victory over Alta Loma in the championship game of the Arroyo boys’ basketball tournament last Saturday. . . . Glendora’s Josh Giles scored 29 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Tartans lost their first home game of the season in the title game of their own tournament, 71-56, to Brea Olinda. . . . Bridgett Flowers and Katie Volner scored 14 points each to lead Rowland to a 57-48 victory over Glenn in the championship game of the John Glenn girls’ basketball tournament.
