Jewish War Veterans Offer Aid Year-Round
* The members of Friendship Post No. 617 of the Jewish War Veterans of America want to express their thanks for the coverage and pictures (“Jewish War Vets Say Thanks With Lunch,†Nov. 27) of our annual luncheon for disabled veterans, held at the Sportsmen’s Lodge on Nov. 26. Your reporter was most gracious and spent much time interviewing our guests. We hosted almost 100 of the hospitalized men and women and their attendants. We feel that this annual function provides them with a Thanksgiving dinner and show they cannot get at the hospital and VA home.
During the year, our members provide continuous services at the various VA sites, bringing holiday foods (for all denominations), card and bingo nights, gifts of toiletries and many other services. For those of us who are still physically able to assist our comrades, it is the least we can do.
