The Buena Park Fine Arts Commission has...
The Buena Park Fine Arts Commission has given Tim Nelson of Westminster and Jim Book of Orange its 1994 Elva Liesch Hughes Laureate of the Arts Awards for Exceptional Service to the Arts in recognition of their longtime contributions to local civic and children’s theater.
Nelson, a teacher for the Westminster School District, was honored for his work as a director, choreographer and performer with the Buena Park Civic Theatre. Book, who owns a lighting and special effects company in Orange, was cited for his contributions in those areas and in set design for civic and youth theaters.
Nelson and Book received their awards from Mayor Don Griffin during a recent city council meeting. The award is named after the late Hughes, who helped establish the Fine Arts Commission in 1965.
