MacKenzie Brings Experience to New Job at Bell-Jeff

Doug MacKenzie, who led Canoga Park High to the City Section 4-A Division baseball title in 1987, has been hired to coach at Bell-Jeff.
MacKenzie coached at Ribet Academy from 1992-94 and guided the Fighting Frogs to their first-ever playoff appearance.
When he learned that there was an opening at Bell-Jeff, MacKenzie called and offered his services.
“I gave a couple other schools calls,” said the 68-year-old MacKenzie, who coached Canoga Park for 37 years. “One of them rejected me and said they were looking for someone with more experience.”
MacKenzie, who coached former major leaguer Biff Pocoroba at Canoga Park, said experience might be a problem for the Guards, who lost several players to graduation after last season.
Nonetheless, MacKenzie is ready to return to coaching.
“I’m excited about the job,” he said.
