Wife Arrested After Husband Is Pinned Under Car
CYPRESS — A woman ran over and trapped her husband with the family car Wednesday morning after the two had argued, police said.
Just before 8 a.m., Maria Victoria Jimenez, 36, apparently drove the family’s 1991 Toyota Tercel over her husband, Carlos E. Jimenez Jr., 35, in the parking lot of their apartment complex in the 5500 block of Orange Avenue, Lt. John T. Schaefer said.
After a neighbor called police, officers found Jimenez trapped under the car’s rear suspension.
He was taken by helicopter to UC Irvine Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition with broken legs and cuts.
Detectives booked Maria Jimenez on suspicion of attempted murder at Orange County Jail, where she remains without bail pending arraignment.
“They were some extensive injuries,†Sgt. Larry Bandy said.
Police initially thought Jimenez had become trapped under the car accidentally while making repairs. They then learned about the argument inside the car, Schaefer said.
“It was over some domestic thing, but it’s still unclear over what,†Bandy said.
