Sen. Rob Hurtt
* Let me get this straight. Rob Hurtt is a multimillionaire businessman who has spent many millions in a successful effort to gain political power (Nov. 24). To gain a state Senate seat he promised to move into the district to which he was elected but has failed to because selling his home in Orange would result in monetary loss.
He promised to refuse a state-supplied vehicle, but not only accepted one (a Chevy Tahoe sports vehicle--a legislative vehicle if ever I have heard of one!) but allowed his teen-age son to drive it out of state where he wrecked it in an accident.
He believes we need to strengthen the family (who doesn’t?) but opposes any increase in minimum wages or restrictions on business, including workers’ compensation, environmental laws and taxes.
He believes that, at minimum, the state should not pay for abortions for poor women, but he supports reduction or elimination of welfare grants to the children born to these poor women.
I wish he was elected from my district so I could support his opponent in his reelection effort.
