PREP ROUNDUP : Trabuco Hills Wins Opener at Tournament

Nick Punto scored 25 points and Mike Cummins added 17 as Trabuco Hills defeated Sunny Hills, 91-57, Monday in a first-round game of the National Sports Grill boys’ basketball tournament at Cypress High School.
The Mustangs blew out to a 26-9 lead after the first quarter and held a 19-point halftime lead.
Sean Granillo and Steve Swagerty each scored 16 points for Sunny Hills.
In other tournament games:
Cypress 74, El Modena 49--Chad Boberg had 31 points and 12 rebounds for Cypress (1-0), which led, 38-22, at the half.
Capistrano Valley 68, Savanna 50--Dan Galvanoni scored 19 points and Brad Thornton 13 for Capistrano Valley (1-0), which outscored Savanna, 36-20, in the second half. Brandon Warden had 18 points for the Rebels.
In the Elks Coyote Classic:
Santa Fe Springs Santa Fe 49, Rancho Alamitos 46--John Frank scored 18 points for Rancho Alamitos (0-1), which led by six at the half, but were outscored, 18-6, in the third quarter.
Buena Park 82, Santa Ana 65--Towan Oliver had 18 points and 11 rebounds and Mike Moran added 15 points for Buena Park (1-0).
In nonleague girls’ basketball:
Calvary Chapel 43, Laguna Beach 42--Andrea Fountain hit a three-point basket with 20 seconds left to give Calvary Chapel the victory. Christy Ring led the Eagles (1-0) with 15 points.
