NORTHRIDGE — A 27-year-old Sylmar man was stabbed to death early Thursday, and two of his friends were injured in a fight with another group of young men, Los Angeles police said.
Kerot Bedirian, 27, died from a stab wound to the upper torso after the 1:30 a.m. incident, said Detective Forrest White of the Devonshire Division.
John Schultz, 27, who was stabbed in the upper torso, was in serious but stable condition at Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, authorities said.
Jessey Osete, 21, who suffered a cut on his head, was treated and released, authorities said.
Police said that the incident started at a restaurant, when two groups of men exchanged angry words or dirty looks. The slight was so subtle however, that witnesses did not know the men had had a disagreement, White said.
“We don’t know whether it was looks exchanged, or if there was an argument,” White said. “Apparently it was something more serious than [witnesses] originally thought.”
The groups left the restaurant within minutes of each other, but the detective said it is unclear if one group followed the other or chanced upon them at a nearby ARCO gas station.
