Plasma and Materials Posts Profit as Sales Surge

Plasma and Materials Technologies Inc. made a $376,494 profit in its third quarter compared to a $1.3 million loss a year ago.

Sales in the quarter that ended Sept. 30 jumped 173% to $6.5 million, compared to $2.4 million last year.

The Chatsworth-based concern sells processing equipment for semiconductor manufacturers.

For the nine months, the company narrowed its loss to $805,612, down from $2.3 million a year earlier.

Sales for the nine months jumped 79% to $14.0 million, up from $7.8 million last year.

The company attributed its improved results partly to sales in Korea and Japan.
