Simple Technology Fills Marketing Post
Alexx Wood has been appointed director of marketing communications for Simple Technology Inc., a Santa Ana computer products company. She formerly held the position of public relations manager. Her experience includes two years as a public relations specialist for Silicon Graphics and a stint as senior publications manager at Price Waterhouse. In addition, Mark Smith has been named director of engineering. He was previously engineering product manager for the company.

Lew Brown has been appointed Asia Pacific sales manager for Melles Griot, an Irvine optical components and coatings, lasers and instrumentation company. Brown has held various sales and marketing positions with Coherent and Spectra Physics since 1972.

Holly Wylie has been named vice president, Orange/Santa Ana for Aetna Health Plans of California. She was formerly vice president of sales and customer relations in Orange for the company. Wylie joined Aetna in 1976 as an employee benefits representative.

Gary C. Gray, John B. Heffernan, Dr. Robert Hewlett and Gary H. Hunt have joined the board of directors of Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach. Gray is president of Orange Coast Auto Group. Heffernan is a principal in the Newport Beach law firm of Heffernan & Boortz. Hewlett has been on Hoag’s medical staff since 1977. Hunt is executive vice president of corporate affairs and administration at the Irvine Co.

Yoshi Asahi has joined BBE Sound Inc. in Huntington Beach as licensing manager. For the past 12 years, he was president of Eilex International, which designs and installs audio/video systems.

Anastacio Martinez has joined Danielian Associates, an Irvine architecture and land-planning firm, as director of design. He previously headed his own firm and was design director at RNM and a senior designer with McLarand, Vasquez & Partners.

J.D. Williams has been appointed a vice president of investments for the Fashion Island branch of Prudential Securities Inc. Before joining the company, he was a financial consultant at Smith Barney.

Dajia Shen has been named to the newly created position of information systems manager for Transtar, a commercial real estate management company. He previously worked as financial consultant for Infinity Investments.

David Watson has been appointed to the newly created position of vice president of information services for Beech Street Corp., an Irvine producer of managed health care. He joins the company from Allergan Inc., where he was vice president of communications and technology. In addition, Susan Hunt has been named vice president of product management. She was formerly vice president of client services.

Michael Saloka has been appointed senior vice president at Unit Instruments Inc., a Yorba Linda manufacturer of mass flow controllers for the semiconductor industry. He was previously chief financial officer. In his new position, Saloka is responsible for business development, international operations in Europe, Japan and the Pacific Rim, and domestic and international service.

Kathy Kosmowski has joined RiechesBaird Advertising in Huntington Beach as production artist. She was previously with Frames Data Inc. in Irvine.

Priscilla McConnell has been named to the newly created position of director of semiconductor product sales for Wyle Electronics in Irvine. She is based in San Jose. Before joining Wyle in 1986, McConnell was operations manager at BayTech Sales, a subsidiary of National Semiconductor.

D. Kevin Martin, vice president of operations for Associated Travel International in Santa Ana, has also been named chief financial officer. He joined the company in 1990.
