ISLE OF NO VIEW: The list of things you’re not allowed to take into concerts keeps growing. Guns, knives, glass bottles, cans, cameras or recording equipment--sure, those are understandable. Even confiscating such things as lipstick and pens, which are contraband now at the Hollywood Palladium and some clubs, can be explained as a way to prevent vandalism.

But binoculars ?

That was the surprise item non grata when the Pretenders played last week at the Wiltern Theatre--at the insistence of singer Chrissie Hynde.

At 44, is she afraid somebody might spot crow’s feet?

Not at all, says Doreen Rosato, spokeswoman for Warner Bros. Records.

“[Hynde] has had experiences where people in the first few rows sit with binoculars,” she says. “It’s just like someone sitting with a camera in front of you. It’s not comfortable.

“Unfortunately, she can’t control where people sit . . . so she’s just adapted a policy of no binoculars, period.”
