YORBA LINDA — A 64-year-old woman visiting from Indiana was killed in a car accident as she and her daughter-in-law were leaving a shopping center, police said.
Zoe Ellen Kelso, 43, of Yorba Linda had just finished grocery shopping with her mother-in-law, Geneva Ann Trager, at an Albertson’s near New River and Avenida Adobe when the collision occurred, Brea Police Lt. Douglas Dickerson said.
As the two women were leaving the shopping center parking lot, another car traveling west on New River collided with Kelso’s car on the passenger side, Dickerson said.
Kelso and the other driver suffered minor injuries and were taken by ambulance to Placentia Linda Community Hospital, police said. A 22-month-old child riding in the other car was not injured. Trager, who was wearing a seat belt, was airlifted to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana where she later died of major internal injuries.
The accident remains under investigation, police said.
