Santiago won its second consecutive Sunset League title in large part because of Rodriguez. “She has very good stick work,†Santiago Coach Kit Snider said. “She is very fast, and she’s very aggressive and goal hungry.†Last Tuesday, Rodriguez scored two goals in the Cavaliers’ 3-0 victory over Edison that wrapped up the league title. She also scored a goal Thursday in a 4-0 victory over Santa Ana and had three goals and an assist Saturday in a 5-0 victory over Huntington Beach in the first round of the Tournament of Champions. Rodriguez has 46 goals and 12 assists this season.

* Rosary. Mroz, a junior, and Cruz, a senior, each won her singles sets without losing a game in the Royals’ 14-4 victory over Ocean View, which clinched the league title.

Laurie Layton
* Mater Dei, senior. Had 62 assists in the Monarchs’ three-game South Coast League sweep of San Clemente.
Marissa Pollara
* Connelly, senior. Had 18 kills and eight aces in the unranked Koalas’ five-game Academy League victory over St. Margaret’s, then ranked No. 2 in Division V.
Cindy Vojtech
* Pacifica, senior. Had 14 kills in a three-game victory over Bolsa Grande and 13 in a three-game victory over Santiago.
