THQ Inc. Announces $305,000 Quarterly Profit

THQ Inc., a Calabasas maker of computer games, said its earnings for the third quarter that ended Sept. 30 were $305,000, compared to a loss of $2.9 million in the third quarter last year.

The turnaround was on revenue of $7.75 million--nearly six times the year-ago figure of $1.36 million.

For the first nine months of 1995, THQ reported earnings of $154,000, compared to a net loss of $7.6 million in the corresponding year-earlier period.

Nine-month sales also surged: Revenues were $18.9 million in the first three quarters of 1995, more than double the $8.9 million in revenues generated during the same period in 1994.

The company attributed the change to the release of several new games, including four in the third quarter, and to holding costs down.
