The Dodgers were denied permission by the Baltimore Orioles to interview former Dodger pitcher Claude Osteen for a vacant minor league pitching coach’s job, but still have plans to talk with recently fired Oriole Manager Phil Regan.
If Regan is hired, it probably will be as a special assistant to Claire, and he would also become a strong candidate to succeed Manager Tom Lasorda.

The Dodgers have expressed interest in third basemen Willie Greene of Cincinnati, Ed Sprague of Toronto and Robin Ventura of the Chicago White Sox.

Third baseman Tim Wallach, whose contract option will not be exercised, said he would like to have a chance to regain his starting job with the Dodgers by possibly signing a non-guaranteed contract this winter with a spring-training invitation.
Wallach would also be interesting in playing for the Angels, who will be looking for a third baseman, but his preference is to stay with the Dodgers.
