PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : NFC : Suspended Eagle Gets Suspended Again
- Share via
Bernard Williams of the Philadelphia Eagles, suspended for the first six games for testing positive for marijuana, will sit out the rest of the season for a second violation of the NFL’s drug policy, a team source said. The second-year tackle resumed practice Oct. 16, but because of the team’s bye week, Williams will end his season without playing a down.
Williams first tested positive for marijuana use last spring. The source was unable to say when the second test was administered or what drug was found in the player’s system.
The NFL announced the suspension but did not say why.

Middle linebacker Jack Del Rio, the leading tackler in each of his three seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, signed a two-year contract extension worth $3.2 million. Del Rio, signed as a free agent from Dallas in 1992, is earning $1.3 million this season in the final year of a three-year pact.
