Residents are not happy about the decision to close City Hall every other Friday, but officials say they will not change the schedule.
About six months ago, the City Council voted to close City Hall and other administrative buildings every other Friday to help meet an state air quality mandate. Under the temporary measure, City Hall was open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and every other Friday from 8 to 5.
When the state smog restriction was lifted this month, however, residents asked the council return to a five-day schedule.
“We’re paying taxes. We’re entitled to it,” resident Allan Morton said at a recent meeting.
But officials say they won’t relent, and they have support from city employees, who like the new schedule.
