OXNARD : Rally Will Protest Recent Gang Slayings

An Oxnard religious congregation will hold a march and rally Saturday to draw attention to a recent trio of gang-related slayings in the city.
Victory Outreach Oxnard, a branch of inner-city Los Angeles Victory Outreach, is organizing “Taking Back Our City” Saturday at 3 p.m. on Paula Street, where the last victim, 16-year-old Pedro Madueno, was shot to death last week.
The event is being held in the youth’s honor.
Former gang leaders and members, prostitutes and drug addicts will deliver a message of hope and urban renewal, organizers say. The rally will also include musical performances.
