Oxnard Shooting Victim in Serious Condition
A 19-year-old Oxnard man remained in serious condition Monday after being shot Sunday in the 1100 block of Almendra Place in Oxnard, authorities said.
Three Oxnard teen-agers were arrested soon after the shooting when police found them in a car reportedly seen leaving the area of the attack.
Mario Vasquez underwent surgery Sunday at St. John’s Regional Medical Center, where he remained hospitalized.
Another victim, Arturo Carillo, 26, of Oxnard was treated and released Sunday.
The two victims were shot with a shotgun about 4:50 p.m. Sunday, Oxnard police said.
Three male teen-agers were seen leaving the area in a blue 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass, police said. Ventura County sheriff’s deputies saw the car near St. Mary’s Drive and Vineyard Avenue and, with the help of Oxnard police officers, stopped the car.
The teen-agers were arrested Sunday and a 12-gauge shotgun thought to have been used in the shooting was found in the car, police said.
