He Gives a Thumb Down for This Movie Review

Give me a break! I pick up my Saturday Times sports page hoping to get my weekly fix of NFL news from Bill Plaschke and find that 75% of his column is devoted to a movie review of “Brian’s Song.� Yes, I watched the movie, one time, and yes, it is a tear-jerker, but if Plaschke has a fetish for sad movies he should rent “Love Story.� Do me a favor, Bill, and stick to sports stories. If you have a continuing urge to write movie reviews, maybe I can use my considerable influence and get you a desk next to Robert Hilburn and those guys in Calendar.
