San Fernando Valley : Woman Killed on Freeway
A 40-year-old woman trying to dash across four lanes of traffic on the Hollywood Freeway early Monday morning was struck and killed by a car, California Highway Patrol officials said.
The unidentified North Hollywood woman apparently lost control of her car about 1:15 a.m. in the northbound lane of the freeway near the Lankershim off-ramp, causing her car to crash into the center divider and spin around, said CHP spokeswoman Kerrie Hawkins.
With her car broken down and facing oncoming traffic, the woman attempted to run across the freeway to get help and was struck by a car, Hawkins said.
Police said the driver of the oncoming car notified authorities about the incident.
The woman died at the scene. No one else was injured in the crash.
