Teen-Ager Shot to Death in Fight
A fight between two men early Sunday in the parking lot of Tommy’s hamburger stand in North Hills left one teen-ager dead, police said.
Police said Manuel Avila, 19, of North Hollywood, was shot and killed when Ezequiel Romo, 18, pulled a gun and fired several shots into his chest. Avila and Romo were standing in back of the eatery at 15711 Roscoe Blvd. at 12:33 a.m. when they got into an argument, said Sgt. Kirk Wilder.
Avila had just punched Romo in the face when the San Fernando man whipped out a gun and shot him as a crowd looked on.
Wilder said Avila died at the scene. Romo fled on foot and has not been found.
