The Horse’s, er, Mouth: Compliments are in order for organizers of a symposium on white-collar crime. The featured attraction is convicted swindler Barry Minkow, released from prison in April, who will bring his anti-fraud show to Irvine on Thursday when he joins a panel discussion on the methods and motives of white-collar criminals. Minkow, 29, founder of ZZZZ Best Co. carpet-cleaning company, has appeared at a number of business meetings to talk about his fraud. He started ZZZZ Best when he was 16, and by the time he was 20, he had bilked investors out of millions. He served more than seven years of a 25-year sentence. Also joining the panel will be former U.S. Attorney James Asperger, who prosecuted the ZZZZ Best case. The all-day symposium at the Radisson Plaza is sponsored by CAMICO Mutual Insurance Co. and is aimed at certified public accountants who have professional liability policies with CAMICO.
