‘Safety’ Ball Article Lacks Objectivity

* In response to the article (“Divisions Deepen Over ‘Safety’ Baseball Issue,†Sept. 23), the choice of [words] is most troubling.

1. The safety-ball group was not “rebuffed.†Several ran for the board but were not successful.

2. They did not try “in vain to work within the system.†Rather, a compromise was crafted, but this was not satisfactory either. It was either their way or no way.

3. At a board meeting, I pointed out to two members of the safety group that the board simply disagrees with their position. This is why your choice of words, “bitterly opposed,†is not accurate.

[You] would rather write an inflammatory piece than be objective and simply report the facts (my understanding of journalism).
