PREP EXTRA / ORANGE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL : Southern California Christian Rolls Up 439 Yards in Victory
ORANGE — Jason Piacenza and David Enda sparked Southern California Christian’s rushing attack as the Flames defeated Downey Calvary Chapel, 63-6, in a nonleague game Friday night.
Piacenza rushed eight times for 166 yards and scored four touchdowns for the Flames (3-2). Enda added 178 yards in 19 carries and two touchdowns.
Southern California Christian’s offense piled up 439 yards and its defense allowed only 167.
Downey took a 6-0 lead on an 18-yard run by Rene Franco with eight minutes, three seconds left in the first quarter, but the Flames’ defense held the rest of the way.
Piacenza gave Southern California Christian a 7-6 lead when he took an inside handoff 30 yards for the touchdown with 4:16 left in the first quarter. Five minutes later, Jeremy Smith scored on a 12-yard run to make it 14-6.
The Flames stretched the lead to 21-6 when Piacenza bounced to the outside and ran 32 yards for the score with 7:31 left in the second quarter. A nine-yard pass play from Steve Schinofen to David Mack gave Southern California Christian a 28-6 lead with 4:41 left in the half.
Enda scored his first touchdown on a five-yard run with less than a minute gone in the third quarter. Three minutes later, Schinofen hooked up with Mack again for a 16-yard touchdown and a 42-6 lead.
Enda added a 57-yard touchdown run with 1:08 left in the third and Piacenza scored on a pair of fourth-quarter runs.
