Update : IRVINE : Car Wash Gets the OK--Again
A modified proposal for a car wash and gas station at Culver and Michelson streets recently received its third approval from the Planning Commission. The City Council had overturned the commission’s first two approvals.
Neighbors have opposed the plan since March when it included a lube shop, saying the project would cause too much noise and traffic. A majority of the council members agreed, holding that the project was too large for the 1.7-acre lot, now home to a Unocal gas station.
The developer, the J.M. Burnstine Co. of Lake Elsinore, dropped the lube shop from the latest plan, but resident Charles Gardner said homeowners in the nearby San Joaquin Village will again ask the City Council to overturn the Planning Commission’s OK.
