A motorist who threw a milkshake and tire tool at two men in another vehicle Friday afternoon on Oxnard Boulevard ended up being shot in the shoulder in retaliation, Oxnard police said.

The shooting appears to be gang-related, said Sgt. Cliff Troy.

The 18-year-old victim, Jose Magallon of Oxnard, drove himself to St. John’s Regional Medical Center for treatment, Troy said.

His suspected attackers were identified as Juan Raymond Magallon, 19, and Jaime Castaneda, 20, both of Oxnard. The two Magallons are not related, Troy said.

Police said the incident began with a verbal confrontation at Oxnard Boulevard and 2nd Street. After the victim and his male passenger threw the objects at the other men, both cars came to a stop at a red light at Cooper Road, they said. One of the alleged attackers got out of his vehicle and fired several rounds at Magallon, Troy said. The police investigation continues.
