Farm Agency Seeks Panel Nominations

The federal Farm Service Agency is seeking nominations for farmers who want to serve on the agency’s Ventura County committee.
Elections to fill the committee, which administers several federal farm programs, will be held this fall.
Committee members help keep the agency in touch with growers’ concerns and also screen applications for price support, crop-loss assistance and farm operating loan programs, said Frank C. Van Brocklin, the county executive director with the agency.
Nominees must live in Ventura County and work in a farming operation. Those interested must request a nomination form from the agency and return it with the signatures of three other Ventura County farmers by Oct. 30.
Anyone who lives and farms in the county can vote in the committee elections. The agency will mail ballots Nov. 24 to farmers who have participated in previous programs. Others can request a ballot by writing the agency at 254 E. Highway 246, Suite D, Buellton, CA 93427 or by calling (805) 688-2727.
The ballots must be returned by Dec. 4.
