A horse show, to be held Saturday at Pegasus Creek Equestrian Center in Agoura Hills, will benefit an organization that assists people with mental disabilities.
The second annual Tri-Valley Special Olympics Invitational Horse Show, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Warner Center in Woodland Hills, runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The equestrian center is at 2972 Triunfo Canyon Road.
Riders can enter as many as four of 22 events, which include Western equitation, trail, pole bending and jumping. Cost to enter is $10. Sixty-two riders have signed up. Registration begins at 7 a.m.
Admission for spectators is free. Proceeds will go to Tri-Valley Special Olympics, a Burbank organization that stages athletic competitions for mentally handicapped people in the San Fernando, Santa Clarita and San Gabriel valleys.
John Haynes, a Kiwanis Club member who helped organize the show, said some of the proceeds will go to other Tri-Valley sports programs such as basketball, soccer, swimming, and track and field. Last year the horse show raised about $6,500, he said.
