Another Suspect Arrested in ‘Wrong-Turn’ Shooting
The Los Angeles Police Department has arrested another juvenile suspect in the “wrong-turn†shooting death of 3-year-old Stephanie Kuhen, but it released another suspect for lack of evidence.
The 16-year-old suspect was arrested Monday afternoon after visiting his former probation officer at the Eastlake Juvenile Detention Center, said Detective Jim McCann of the LAPD Northeast Division.
“He had heard the police were after him, and he was right,†said McCann. The probation officer called detectives, who took the youth into custody, McCann said.
In other developments, authorities were forced this weekend to release Manuel Rosales, 21, of Cypress Park, who was arrested in connection with the case last Wednesday. He remains under investigation, said McCann.
“We anticipate we’ll be making more arrests this week,†McCann added.
Three adults and two juveniles have been charged in connection with the Sept. 17 shooting in Cypress Park, in which gang members opened fire on a car that had apparently made a wrong turn.
Kuhen, who would have been 4 years old today, was killed in the attack.
Her brother, Joseph, 2, and the driver of the vehicle, were wounded in the attack.
