NORTHRIDGE — A 37-year-old Northridge man was killed Monday when his minivan ran a red light and smashed into a dump truck, Los Angeles police said.
The man, whose name was not released, was driving the minivan east on Plummer Street about 3:20 p.m. when he sped through the red light at Corbin Avenue and slammed into the dump truck, Officer Mark Snyder said. The driver of the truck was not injured.
The minivan’s air bag inflated, but the man was not wearing his seat belt and was hurled out the driver’s-side window, Snyder said. He died at the scene.
