Santa Barbara 39, Rio Mesa 0--Santa Barbara outgained the visiting Spartans 379 yards to 191.
Running backs Kevin Morelos and Phillip Pipersburg led the Dons (3-1, 1-0), each scoring twice. Morelos had touchdown runs of 18 yards and one yard. He rushed for 98 yards in seven carries. Pipersburg rushed for 96 yards in five carries.
Santa Barbara quarterback Danny Nunez had one touchdown pass, a five-year hookup with Dwayne Austin. Nunez completed 10 of 15 passes for 129 yards.
The only bright point for Rio Mesa (1-3, 0-1) came late in the fourth quarter when quarterback Farhaad Azimi threw a 66-yard bomb to receiver Randy Hurt. It was Azimi’s only completion in 10 attempts.
