Oxnard 40, Ventura 27--Desmond Davis ran for 100 yards and two touchdowns for the Yellowjackets (2-2, 1-0) at Oxnard.
Davis had touchdown runs of 67 and six yards. Oxnard’s defense also played a pivotal role in the win. The Yellowjackets scored four times following Ventura turnovers, including long interception returns by Ross Randolph and Chris Vera.
Ventura’s Kyle Schommer completed 17 of 32 for 272 yards and three touchdowns, but he collected most of those yards in the second half as Ventura played catch-up throughout. Schommer was seven of 14 for 57 yards in the first half.
Jeff Russell had three catches for 88 yards and a score and Charles Dixon had four receptions for 78 yards and a score for Ventura.
