ORANGE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PREP EXTRA : Whittier Christian Beats Magnolia in Final Seconds
ANAHEIM — Victor Quintero scored on a two-yard run with 31 seconds remaining to give Whittier California a 21-14 victory over Magnolia Friday night at Western High School.
Charlie Ramirez attempted to dive in from the two-yard line on the play, but was pushed back onto his feet. He lateraled the ball to Quintero, who ran in for the winning touchdown.
The Condors (3-1) drove 80 yards in two minutes 46 seconds to set up the winning score and turn back the Sentinels (1-3).
California was led by Dwayne Brown, who rushed for 166 yards in 18 carries. All but five of those yards came in the second half.
The Sentinels opened play with a David David 47-yard scoring run on its first possession and held a 7-0 lead at halftime.
Two Brown touchdowns, one- and 26-yard efforts, brought the Sentinels to within one point at 14-13 with 4:44 remaining.
Magnolia was led by Carlos Martin, who rushed for 80 yards in 16 carries.
