ORANGE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PREP EXTRA : Defense, Ohrel Help Costa Mesa Beat Troy, 15-0
FULLERTON — Ray Ohrel scored two touchdowns and Costa Mesa’s defense dominated Troy as the Mustangs won, 15-0, Friday night in a nonleague football game at Fullerton High.
Ohrel put Costa Mesa (2-2) ahead with a seven-yard run in the second quarter. The Mustangs led, 6-0, after a missed extra point.
Chris Mokede added a 21-yard field goal in the third quarter for a 9-0 lead. Ohrel scored his second touchdown on a 36-yard run, putting Costa Mesa up 15-0.
Ohrel finished the game 173 yards in 22 carries. Chris Mokede completed four of 10 passes for 39 yards for Costa Mesa.
Troy (1-3) had an opportunity to score early in the first quarter. The Warriors had a first and goal on the five-yard line, but Costa Mesa’s defense kept Troy out of the end zone. Troy reached the one but Costa Mesa held Troy on the next three plays to take over on downs.
