Woodland Hills : Quake-Damaged Store to Celebrate Reopening

The Vons Companies Inc. will hold a grand reopening Wednesday for a Woodland Hills store damaged in the Northridge earthquake, company officials said.
The company had planned to make minor renovations to the store before the quake, and after the Jan. 17, 1994, temblor determined that extensive repairs would be required, said Monet M. LeMon, a company spokeswoman.
She said the store, at 23381 Mulholland Drive in the El Camino Shopping Center, closed for four days after the quake, reopened, then closed again for the renovations, which included pouring new cement floors and installing new support beams.
The 35,650-square-foot facility will house for the first time a Chinese take-out with seating for customers and a small Wells Fargo Bank branch, LeMon said.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 6 p.m.
Vons Companies, headquartered in Arcadia, operates 327 stores throughout Southern California and Nevada under the names Vons and Pavilions.
