Westside : MOLESTATION CASE
A former Beverly Hills police officer charged with sexually molesting two teen-age boys in Hollywood pleaded no contest to a felony charge Thursday.
David Beckstrom, 32, entered his plea to a single count of oral copulation with a person under 18 before his scheduled preliminary hearing in Los Angeles Municipal Court.
Two charges of committing lewd acts on a 15-year-old boy were dropped after the juvenile, a citizen of El Salvador, was deported by the Immigration and Naturalization Service, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Lauren Weis. Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 17.
The court is expected to suspend Beckstrom’s two-year prison sentence if he meets the terms of his five-year probation, she said. Beckstrom, of Sunland, also will have to pay $10,500 in fines, perform 500 hours of community service and register as a sex offender. In addition, he will be required to undergo counseling and stay away from the area of Santa Monica Boulevard between Fairfax Avenue and Vine Street.
The two juveniles were transvestite prostitutes whom Beckstrom picked up on Santa Monica Boulevard while off-duty, Weis said. Beckstrom was arrested by Los Angeles police on Aug. 14, and he resigned from the Beverly Hills Police Department on Aug. 23
