“Treat Her Right,†a seductive swirl of energy that combined a touch of the country energy of Jerry Lee Lewis and the soul sizzle of James Brown, was one of the great overlooked hit singles of the ‘60s. The record made it to No. 2 on both the pop and R&B; charts in 1965, putting Head in a position to become a major figure in pop. But the Texan, for various business and personal reasons explained in the liner notes, only made it back to the Top 40 twice--with “Apple of My Eye†and “Just a Little Bit,†both of which are included in this lively, 18-track retrospective.

Albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (e x cellent).
