Westside : City Seeks to Annex College Property
Culver City, officially known as the “Heart of Screenland,†is pursuing a new informal motto: The Home of West Los Angeles College.
City officials are exploring plans to annex the college property, which is on county land within the city’s boundaries. Although the college is considered by many to be in Culver City, annexation would make the school a permanent fixture and help boost the city’s profile, officials say.
The City Council has unanimously endorsed the plan, which was initiated by Councilman Albert Vera.
College officials could not be reached for comment.
In previous meetings with city officials, school administrators have refused requests to rename the school Culver City College.
