COLLEGE FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : USC : Fields, Papadakis Successful at Switch
Coach John Robinson singled out two converted offensive players Wednesday, safety Scott Fields and inside linebacker Taso Papadakis.
“Those two have improved their lateral movement more in one year than anyone I’ve ever been around,†he said.
Fields, a senior, was briefly a tailback starter in 1993. Papadakis, a sophomore, started as a fullback, until it was discovered he had difficulty catching passes.

Stu Gage, the 330-pound senior starting nose guard, may lose his job to fast-rising sophomore George Perry. Switched from defensive tackle, Perry, 265 pounds, has had a strong camp.
