LAGUNA HILLS : Gordon Street Truck Parking Ban Mulled
The last city street where commercial trucks are allowed to park also would be off-limits under a parking ban that the City Council will consider tonight.
Residents near Gordon Street have complained about noise and diesel fumes from trucks that use the small connector street for parking.
Because there are no houses on Gordon Street itself, the short side road off Moulton Parkway is not covered by truck parking prohibitions that apply in other parts of Laguna Hills.
Residents say that half a dozen large vehicles are typically parked on Gordon Street.
“It’s a big problem for people who live near that street,†said Gary Petersen, who lives in a nearby townhome. “They start their trucks at 4 or 5 in the morning and make a lot of noise.â€
Petersen said the large trucks also make driving the small street more hazardous. “It makes for a very poor appearance for the area,†he said. “It’s hard on the property owners.â€
The council will take up the issue at its 7 p.m. meeting at council chambers, 25201 Paseo de Alicia, Suite 150. Information: (714) 707-2600.
