USAfrica Airways to Resume Flights

USAfrica Airways, the first regularly scheduled U.S. airline to go to South Africa, will resume flights this fall after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and suspending operations in February.

The resumption of service is largely due to USAfrica’s new alliance with Continental Airlines, a spokesman said. USAfrica will participate in Continental’s frequent flyer program and will fly out of Continental’s gateway at Newark International Airport in New Jersey. The service will include four flights a week, going from Newark to Johannesburg with a stop in Dakar, Senegal.
