Bullfrogs Fall to Cobras, 7-6
The playoff-bound Bullfrogs were beaten, 7-6, by the Phoenix Cobras Wednesday in a Roller Hockey International game in front of an estimated 3,407 at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix.
Leading, 6-3, at the end of the third quarter, the Cobras appeared to have the game in hand. But the Bullfrogs (19-3-1) came back in the fourth quarter, getting three goals to tie the score. Unfortunately for the Bullfrogs, the clock and the Cobras’ late goal in the fourth quarter put the game away.
Joe Cook led the Bullfrogs with two goals and goalie Rob Laurie had 30 saves. Todd Wetzel, leading scorer for the Bullfrogs, scored his 39th goal of the season. Jim Birmingham had two goals for Phoenix, including the winner. The Cobras are 13-11-0.
The Bullfrogs finish the regular season on Friday at San Diego.
