Debit Card Program Planned: MasterCard International said it will launch South Korea’s first such service in September and that it expects to win about 10 million members. A debit card, issued by member banks, allows holders to settle payments to member merchants through bank accounts by electronic transfer. MasterCard’s Maestro debit cards have been issued by 1,300 institutions worldwide. About 93 million Maestro cards are in use worldwide.
