Keeping Back Roads Open

Your June 28 article regarding the Ventura County Trails Network should have been titled “Sulphur Mountain Road in Jeopardy of Closure to Public Access.”
The main thrust of the vote by Supervisors Judy Mikels, Frank Schillo and John Flynn was to allow neighboring property owners to close a rural dirt road that is very popular with hikers, equestrians and bicyclists.
Sulphur Mountain Road has had public access for at least 50 years. The rise of popularity of Sulphur Mountain Road indicates just how much these roads and trails are needed in Ventura County.
I would like to see more recreational roads for the citizens of this area, not fewer.
