SANTA PAULA : Circus Vargas Plans 3 Days of Performances
Circus Vargas is coming to Santa Paula for three days of performances featuring Bengal tigers and African lions, a circus spokeswoman said.
The circus will perform Monday through July 5 at Teague Park. Tickets range from $4 to $14.50 for children and $8.50 to $18.50 for adults.
Children who want to see the creation of a circus city are invited to come to the park Monday and watch the circus being put together, beginning at 11 a.m.
Based in Ventura, Circus Vargas was founded in Hollywood in 1969 by the late Clifford E. Vargas, the son of a Portuguese immigrant, who sold his home to buy his first circus tent.
Since then, Circus Vargas has performed all over California.
This is the first time that the circus has come to Santa Paula, officials said.
Tickets are available at K mart in Santa Paula and Ticketmaster outlets.
