LONG BEACH : Woman Who Threw Sons Off Bridge Pleads Not Guilty
A woman accused of throwing her two young sons off a bridge last February, killing one and injuring the other, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges of murder and attempted murder.
The arraignment of Donna Jean Fleming, 24, came one day after a jury found her mentally competent to stand trial for killing her 22-month-old son, Craig, and injuring his brother, Michael, 3. Her preliminary hearing is set for June 22.
Fleming, who jumped into the water herself, was rescued along with her older son, who is now in his father’s custody. The younger child drowned.
